Welcome to Country Pleasure Walkers, home of Stone’s Gold Rush and some great Tennessee Walking Horses. You won’t be sorry you stopped to visit.

My husband and I have about 1000 acres of some of the best farming ground in Illinois. We raise corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa for hay. We also raise black Angus cattle.

The Tennessee Walking Horses are my hobby, so, I have to work to help support them. I am a registered nurse. I will probably refer to them as ‘my kids’, because they are all our family. I started out with horses at a very early age, around 3, with a burro. That was an experience. Then I graduated to ponies, then quarter horses, then a fox trotter, then the Tennessee Walking Horses. Of all the horses that I have had, the Tennessee Walking Horses are the most versatile, intelligent, and enjoyable. I love all my horses, past and present, and would never change a one of them, but the Tennessee Walking Horses are definitely a breed by themselves.

When I think of the Tennessee Walking Horse, I see a group of riders out on a Sunday afternoon, on a path along a creek bed. They would be negotiating fallen trees, going through water, going around boulders, etc. As they come out into the meadows, they head to the area where there are other Walkers having an impromptu ‘show’. These trail riding Tennessee Walkers join in and compete with the ‘city-slickers’. Tennessee Walking Horses are versatile, very intelligent, and beautiful.

Our Philosophy

The Tennessee Walking Horse is an amazing animal. Besides giving you the ride of your life, they have the heart, will, and devotion of the universe. This is why they need to be given the opportunity to become your life long partner, not just a horse. I believe that the Natural Horsemanship Philosophy is the most spectacular way to communicate understanding for the horse as well as the person.

I have researched several different clinicians, Clinton Anderson, Pat Parelli, and Reiss. They all have a similar approach and all have the common ground for getting your horse and you to understand what the other is communicating. I don't think it matters which one you prefer, they are really alike.

I have been using Natural Horsemanship for the past few years and am amazed at how it really works. It has done awesome things for Skipper and the filly, Jazz. Sunny can do so many of the exercises at liberty as well as online.

It is such an awesome ride when you combine the gait of the Tennessee Walking Horse with the communication of Natural Horsemanship.
